Decisive Origin 2007 art collection

Hey,
Gilded Providence is on hiatus until I make some actual headway editing the first book. If waiting irritates you, I invite complaints.

In the mean time, I’d like to turn your attention over to another artist, Laurie Thomas from Decisive Origin.

I’ve recently received a copy of her 2007 artbook, “Blue Fire” and if you’re into independent artbooks, you should probably check it out. Decisive Origin has lots of free web-manga and galleries so you’ll have a pretty good idea of the kind of art that’s inside the book. On the downside, this art collection “book” is really more of a magazine flier, the paper is flimsy and textured but, hurray! The print quality is great. It’s short, but it’s sweet as the art is highly stylized with strong emotional tones. It gives you a good taste of the art of Laurie Thomas, but I sure hope the books of future years have a bit more meat to them.

There are a couple other purchasable manga available from decisive origin; “Songstress of the Beautiful Sun”, which makes a great addition to the artbook. I highly recommend purchasing them together. As well as “Intricate!”, a new manga available for pre-order. I have complete confidence that it’ll be equally wonderful!

The Art of Mark Melton / Gilded Providence update

Good buddy, Markus Melton, has started his own art blog, offering some of his gifts to the public. Added that to the “family” links section. He also has a poetry blog here.

Today’s chapter of Gilded Providence will be late and/or absent for the week. I might put the project on hold while I focus on other projects as well as getting the first book ready for print. Will see how it goes.

Devon Riley Support

Where the heck have I been? Seems I have forgotten that this website isn’t only for my literary practices. Please bare with me as I reevaluate what exactly I want to do with this site. I’ll post later on Make Belief updates and goals, but right now, here’s something important that I should have posted a few days ago.

Devon Riley, of the interweb famous Riley brothers, was stuck in hospital for (major? he’s got a big-ass scar, so it should be major) surgery. If you don’t know who Devon is, now is a great time to find out. He is most famous for his work as NES in the internet drama-adventure program by PBC productions: The New Adventures of Captain S!

Anyway, to help Devon with his insane hospital bill caused by the inferior US health care system, a site has been set up at http://lovefordevon.wordpress.com.

If you have any love for Devon, or feel for the financial strife of independent artists, please consider donating a little something something!
